Barn Aid Lines Up Celebrity Chefs for October 9 Gala

Marie Tedei, the owner and head farmer at Eden's Organic Garden Center & CSA Farm,  has lined up seven celebrity chefs for her third annual Barn Aid celebration on Sunday, Oct. 9, at her Balch Springs farm that also features a free screening of the documentary "UrbanRoots" and a concert by the Dallas folksinger Lorynn The Redhead.

This year Barn Aid will be benefiting Feed Texas First, a group that provides training in food growing skills in addition to helping local farmers.

The chefs who have signed up so far include:

  • Traveling chef David Gilbert
  • Janice Provost and Chad Huser from Parigi
  • Jeffery Hobbs formerly from Suze
  • Graham Dodds formerly from Bolsa
  • Brian Luscher from The Grape
  • David Anthony Temple, the popup underground chef DAT

According to Tedei, the chefs will be preparing heavy hors d'oeuvres "created from featured wines and cheeses and will be  giving guests some recipe ideas for the upcoming holidays."
 
The ticket-only reception will feature wine and cheeses from Dallas' own French winemaker Benjamin Calais of Calais Winery and Rich Rogers of Scardello Artisan Cheese.   Amanda Vanhoosier of Coppell Community Garden will be the keynote speaker. Steven Doyle of Crave DFW will emcee the event.
 
Gates open to the public at dusk for the screening of t "Urban Roots" which will be presented free of charge followed by a free concert with Lorynn the Redhead.  Opening for Lorynn will be Kevin Mark Cvetan, another local singer and song writer.   Refreshments will be available for purchase during the movie and concert.
 
The ticketed part of the event opens at 5 p.m.  The gates open at dusk for the free film and concert. Additional Sponsors include Edible DFW, CRAVE DFW, Broadband Specialists, Eric Grundleman AV, Robert Bostick Photography, Lorynn the Redhead, and Oh* Brownie, Kruffles.
