Fort Worth's Cowtown Market is suspending the Wednesday market due to "the unprecedented heat wave and drought (that) took its toll on our crops this year.,,with declining traffic and sales, we decided that Wednesday was our last weekday market for the season." But the Wednesday market will be back on Wednesday, Nov. 23, the day before Thanksgiving, "so you can stock up on fresh vegetables, bread and baked goods, and other items to give your holiday a local accent." The regular Saturday market continues from 8 a.m. to noon. This week look for melons, cucumbers, squash, zucchini, okra, eggplant, pears and onions. Volunteers will also be v collecting donations of nonperishable foods, fresh produce from the market, pet food and cash for the Tarrant Area Food Bank this Saturday.
The Grapevine Farmers Market will not be held tomorrow due to the Grapefest celebration, but there will be a booth set up at the corner of Worth and Main Streets with some of the usual market offerings like jellies, jams, and local honey at the event.
At Eden's Farm and CSA market this tomorrow from 8 a.m. to noon,look for purslane (we had to look it up too) and summer (New Zealand) Spinach, pasture-raised beef, and samples of organic coffee from Fresh Life Foods and bakery offerings from Bedford Bakery. Eden's carries Texas Olive Ranch olive oil and balsamic vinegars and the farm's own local honey.
