Eden's Garden to Host Third Annual Barn Aid

The Third Annual Barn Aid, a fundraiser to support local grass-roots organizations and raise awareness about local food, will be held at 5 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 9 at Eden's Garden CSA Farm in Balch Springs.

Special events and speakers include a ticket-only wine and cheese pairing soiree conducted by Dallas' own French winemaker Benjamin Calais of Calais Winery and Rich Rogers of Scardello Artisan Cheese, followed by keynote speaker Amanda Vanhoosier of Coppell Community Garden. Gourmet hors d' oeuvres created by local chefs from featured wines and cheeses will be served.  Steven Doyle of Crave DFW will emcee the event.

This year's event benefits Feed Texas First, a group that provides training in food growing skills in addition to helping local farmers. Gates are open to the public at dusk for the screening of the documentary Urban Roots, which will be presented free of charge followed by a concert with Lorynn the Redhead of Dallas.  Refreshments will be available for purchase during the movie and concert.

Eden's Garden CSA Farm is located at 4710 Pioneer Road in Balch Springs.  Tickets for the wine and cheese event are available here.
