Zip Car is expanding in the Metroplex by partnering with the University of North Texas Denton Campus and the Dallas Campus to provide students, teachers and staff a smarter, greener way to get around at school, as well as nearby commuters, without having to drive from one side of town to the other.

Zipcar is a monthly subscription service that allows members to rent cars from one hour to seven days. The cars are parked in designated parking spaces. Members reserve a Zipcar in advance and have automated access using a card that works with the car's technology to unlock the door; the keys are already located inside. Alternatively, members can use Zipcar's Android or iPhone app to locate a Zipcar and unlock the doors.

Zipcar charges a one-time application fee, an annual fee and a reservation charge. Fuel, parking, insurance and maintenance are included in the price. Members must be either 18 or 21, depending on location, and have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
