Miss Nutrish Top 5 Better Digestion Tips

Practice food combining: 'The Body Ecology' by Donna Gates is a great book to learn more about food combining. Personally, I try to combine my greens with carbs OR fats. I try to eat at least 50% of my meals raw so that my body will not have an immune response, which occurs when food is heated over a certain temperature.

Invest in a probiotic: There are several strands of probiotics, I suggest switching them about every 3 months so that your gut does not become immune to them. Additionally, make sure the cultures are still alive until the expiration date AND there are at least 10 billion active organisms.

Participate in seasonal cleanses: It is important that we realize we are ALIVE beings and in every cycle of growth there are periods of removal of waste and renewal within the organism. We are no different! With the emergence of chemicals, additives, GMO's, preservatives, our bodies are bombarded on a daily basis with chemicals that are foreign to our genetic makeup. Performing a cleanse (colon, liver, parasite, juice, allergy, etc) at the change of each season will allow your body remove the old and invite in the new!

Fermented foods: Fermented foods aid your gut because they are full of beneficial pre & probiotics. Read more about the benefits of fermented foods in Donna Gate's book 'Body Ecology'.

Eat as close to the earth as possible: As I stated earlier, our bodies are bombarded with harmful substances on a daily basis. Eating clean and close to the earth will ensure you are getting a multitude of vitamins and minerals. More importantly, you have better control of avoiding GMO's, preservatives, additives, high fructose corn syrup, etc. Our bodies can be healed if we give them the right tools starting with the food we put to our lips.

My tips above are a FANTASTIC way to jumpstart your way back to better digestive AND overall health & longevity.  It is important I also mention participating in stress-relieving practices for yourself, on a daily basis.  This may sound extreme, but it can be as simple as 10 minutes of DEEP breathing.  When we are stressed our cortisol levels increase which slows our digestion and can lead to digestive distress.  We are a body, a mind, a gut, and a soul so it only makes sense that we should make time for that part of us too.  Schedule time in your calendar for YOU time.  Visit my past blog about relaxation practices.  I think you will enjoy! :)
