Monday - September 26 – Come learn why fall is the best season to garden.
In addition to our monthly meetings on the first Monday of the month, we also invite the public to our monthly speaker presentations. The speaker this month is Barbara Gollman, Dallas County Master Gardener. The title of Ms. Gollman’s presentation is titled: “Fall is the Best Season to Garden.” After a career as a medical microbiologist, Barbara became a chef/nutritionist with a specialty in plant-based cuisine and phytonutrients. Saturday October 1 – GARLAND COMMUNITY GARDEN EVENT—The Texas Wildflower Hill Build
You can come have fun with us in planting perhaps the tallest hugelkultur in Garland. Over the month of September we will be adding soil and compost to a brush heap of logs and twigs that has been growing for about two years. At the event we will pass out information on building hugelkulturs (a water-efficient way to garden). The mound will be seeded with milkweed and other Texas native wildflower seeds. This will become our “Texas Wildflower Hill. We hope you will return in the spring to admire your work.
