The Magdalen House, a nonprofit organization helping individuals achieve sobriety and sustain recovery from alcoholism at no cost and based on 12-Step spiritual principles, will host the annual Leave a Legacy “Live Loud and Free” community concert on Thursday, October 19. Guests are encouraged to don their finest western wear to enjoy live music by Morgan Wade. Fresh off the heels of her stop at Austin City Limits, she is one of Nashville’s fastest rising and most critically acclaimed young stars. Possessed with a raw and unflinching voice anchored by a perfect tinge of twang; the rare ability to pen honest portraits of some of life’s most precious and painful and unpredictable moments; she boasts an onstage vulnerability that so seamlessly breaks down the wall between fan and artist. Guests will also be able to bid on incredible auction items —all while celebrating the freedom of recovery and raising awareness and much-needed funds to help D/FW women and men achieve alcoholism recovery.

“We are so excited to celebrate the freedom of recovery with our supporters at this year’s Leave a Legacy event. We would not be where we are today without the support of our generous community. It is through the generosity of supporters like The David M. Crowley Foundation that we can provide no cost services to those impacted by alcoholism,” says Lisa Kroencke, CEO of The Magdalen House. “We are delighted to recognize The David M. Crowley foundation at this year’s event as our honorary chair.”

Created in 1990 by David Crowley and Sandra Hallmark, the foundation is committed to addressing the social needs of the D/FW community. The David M. Crowley Foundation has selected The Magdalen House as a designated charity and as such has given many generous grants over the past several years, including seed funding which allowed the agency to launch its Legacy of Hope Capital Campaign. The David M. Crowley Foundation has been a generous supporter of The Magdalen House since 2016 and has helped impact thousands of lives. Through its compassionate gifts, the Foundation has truly been instrumental in realizing the mission of providing individuals with freedom from alcoholism.

This year’s event is co-chaired by, Nancy Gottsacker, JoAnne Moore, and Melissa Utley. Nancy Gottsacker has been involved with The Magdalen House for over 10 years. She was first introduced when her daughter began volunteering, and watched it save her life. Gottsacker says, “It’s been wonderful watching the growth, seeing how many alcoholic lives have been saved.” Nancy now gives back to The Magdalen House by volunteering, donating, and chairing events like Leave a Legacy.

JoAnne Moore first attended the Leave a Legacy event in 2018 and helped The Magdalen House development team with auction solicitation. Since then, she has been on the host committee and given monetarily to the event. She stated, “I am chairing this event because I want to help Maggie’s House reach and help even more women and now men!”

Melissa Utley has been a supporter of The Magdalen House for about 10 years. She is deeply connected to the mission due to the disease of alcoholism being in her immediate family. She has been involved with the Leave a Legacy event for years serving on the host committee, solicitation team, and now as co-chair.

“We are beyond grateful for the support and dedication of our event co-chairs, who have helped us plan an evening that our supporters certainly won’t forget,” says Kroencke.

The Warren Center, a nonprofit agency providing professional evaluations, therapy services and support to children with developmental delays and disabilities, is proud to announce the introduction of “Andrew’s Scholarship Fund”. Created by DeEtta Prince, a devoted grandmother, who is taking a heartwarming initiative to express her gratitude and support for The Warren Center, an organization that played a pivotal role in the life of her grandson, Andrew, who has Down syndrome. After benefiting immensely from years of therapy services provided by The Warren Center, Prince is excited to announce the launch of “Andrew’s Scholarship Fund,” aimed at furthering the center’s mission of helping children with developmental differences thrive.

A genetic screening revealed that Andrew would be born with Down syndrome. The anticipation of grandchild number three, Prince and her family brought a mixture of emotions. Despite the initial challenges and uncertainties, they quickly gathered strength and began preparing for Andrew’s arrival. The family’s main concern was Andrew’s heart condition, which eventually required surgery when he was 7 months old.

The turning point in Andrew’s journey began with his first therapy session at The Warren Center, led by therapist Bernardine. Initially conducted through tele-visits due to the ongoing pandemic, the sessions soon transitioned to in-person interactions that took place at the family’s home. Bernardine’s unwavering commitment and expertise played a significant role in Andrew’s progress, as he learned to sit up, crawl, walk, and even feed himself. The collaborative efforts between Bernardine and the family created a supportive environment that allowed Andrew to flourish.

“The Warren Center’s approach, which involves both at-home and in-office therapy, as well as speech therapy, has been instrumental in Andrew’s growth,” says DeEtta Prince. “We received support for Andrew’s developmental milestones, which also extended to his transition to school, ensuring that he continues to receive the care and assistance he needs. The Warren Center has been center stage for our family. We are beyond grateful that the nonprofit empowers every child, regardless of the severity of their challenges, to achieve their smallest accomplishments. They are committed to not turning away any child based on financial limitations or developmental differences stands as a testament to their dedication.”

To ensure that The Warren Center's transformative work continues, Prince has initiated "Andrew's Scholarship Fund” on Eclipse Innovative website. Prince is the president of Eclipse Innovative and wants to share this scholarship fund with her clients. This fund aims to provide financial support to The Warren Center, ensuring that therapists can remain accessible to families and children both at home and in their clinic. Prince invites the community to contribute generously to Andrew's Scholarship Fund, emphasizing that even a modest donation can contribute significantly to maintaining The Warren Center's invaluable services. The fund has a goal of $100,000.

Additionally, Prince and Eclipse Innovative is partnering with the Allen Americans professional ice hockey team to support The Warren Center as the Allen Americans face the Kansas City Mavericks on November 12 at 2 p.m. A percentage of every ticket sold for that night’s game will go to The Warren Center. The Warren Center will have a table at the game and representatives from The Warren Center will drop the puck to start the game. The Warren Center will also receive a portion of proceeds from the Allen Americans’ 50/50 raffle at the game. Fans and supporters can watch the game on CW33.

Biscuit, the mascot of the Allen Americans, will be at all three The Warren Center offices (central, west, and east) for The Warren Center’s Fall Family Fun Day on October 31 from 9:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. so that children and families can meet him.

Prince concludes, "Together, we can make the wonder of the world closer for each child and family The Warren Center serves."

The Warren Center, a nonprofit agency dedicated to advocating for children and families affected by developmental delays and disabilities, is gearing up for an inspiring North Texas Giving Day campaign that invites the public to channel their inner superheroes. Under the mission of "#Give2Kids," this campaign aims to bring about transformative change in the lives of children and families in need.

The campaign's rallying call, "We’re welcoming everyone to a mission that calls on the superhero within each one of us! This mission, called “#Give2Kids,” will help change the lives of children and families impacted by developmental disabilities and delays," sets the stage for an impactful and engaging North Texas Giving Day.

At the heart of the campaign is the belief that every child, regardless of their abilities, has the potential to overcome challenges and thrive. The Warren Center recognizes the pivotal role that community support plays in this journey. "This North Texas Giving Day, we invite you to unleash your inner superhero and be a source of hope for children with developmental disabilities and delays. Your generosity can be the force that drives these young heroes toward a future filled with joy and possibilities," says Amy Spawn, CEO of The Warren Center.

The superhero-themed campaign not only captures the imagination but also highlights the power of collective action. Contributions, both big and small, fuse together to create magical moments in the lives of these children. The funds raised during North Texas Giving Day will be instrumental in expanding The Warren Center's reach, ensuring that more families receive the vital services they need. These services include speech therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and specialized skills training.

According to Spawn, "Our goal this North Texas Giving Day is to raise necessary funds to reach more families in need, creating an even greater impact in our community. Your support will help us continue to provide essential services to children. The Warren Center will never turn a child or family away due to an inability to pay. For each and every one of the 1,300 children we serve, the agency needs to raise $2,000 to cover the costs of services. Our goal is to ease the financial burden of these families, enabling them to focus on their child's well-being.”

North Texas Giving Day will be held on September 21, but early giving begins on September 1. The Warren Center invites everyone to join forces, embrace the spirit of giving, and be the superheroes that these children deserve. To learn more about The Warren Center and how you can contribute to this noble cause, please visit https://www.thewarrencenter.org/ or The Warren Center’s North Texas Giving Day page at https://www.northtexasgivingday.org/thewarrencenter.
